HOW TO PROTECT AGAINST ELECTRICAL BURNS

An Arc Flash can seriously injure someone who is not wearing the necessary protective clothing.
Australian industrial companies have started to replace the cotton protective clothing is worn by their electrical and utility workers, with arc-rated protective clothing and Personal Protective Equipment.
Untreated cotton is flammable and has no flame retardant properties, which means once it ignites, it will continue to burn. The ongoing burning of cotton clothing against the skin of an individual increase the area, depth and severity of the burn received.
By contrast, arc-rated clothing will self-extinguish and stop burning after the arc has been extinguished.
