Pits, grates and more for Menangle Park Development

PROJECT SNAPSHOT

Our customer, a Sydney based civil contractor, began works earlier this year on a new residential community in Sydney’s South West.

Menangle Park is a new home precinct set in idyllic surrounds adjacent to the Nepean River and close to Campbelltown, Wollongong and South West Sydney’s growth corridor. 4000 plus homes will eventually be built on the site surrounded by over 40 hectares of green space.

The contractor has begun construction of 255 individual lots as part of Stage 1 of the development, which is the developer’s biggest investment in Sydney to date. The project has an estimated value of $1.5 billion, with a future planned town centre and onsite childcare and primary school facilities forming part of the estate’s main hub.

The first residents are expected to move in around mid 2022.

THE CHALLENGES

The contractor’s Project Manager said in a press release that “bringing a new subdivision into the area will involve a notable amount of earthworks and a significant lead in to provide services to the upcoming lots.”

“We have also already undertaken investigations on the original and now redundant Sydney to Melbourne coaxial cable that runs through the centre of the project - something that you don’t find on most projects.”

This particular subdivision has an extensive scope of works packed into a tight time frame, meaning the contractors needed to engage a supplier who could deliver stormwater and drainage components on time and on budget.
