Otahuhu Station Drainage solution
Project:
Otahuhu Station is a new combined bus and train station funded by Auckland transport. The station received a complete makeover, revamped with a new rail platform, two new bus stations, a terminal building and an elevated concourse.
Hydro worked with Jasmax Architects and Downers Construction to help deliver this $28 million project. The station now features design and architecture that reflects local and historical narratives. It has been designed to offer better connected and more frequent public transport. Throughout this build the protection and safety of the environment and commuters was paramount.
Solution:
Hydro supplied Z1000 polymer concrete channels with heelguard composite slotted grates. These can be found along the path and bikeways. The channel's slender frame guarantees an ideal fit with adjacent slabs and paving, while still delivering optimal bike, pedestrian, wheelchair and heel safety for commuters.
Hydro's unique zero threshold drainage solutions were used along the terminal building, offering seamless design for indoor and outdoor areas in the station. Zero threshold is the ideal drainage system in areas where waterproofing is vital, as no modifications are required to door frames.
